I had a Dream...

I had a dream recently...

I don't dream often these days...

Early in december I had 3 or 4 dreams, all of which I have noted down for use as story ideas...

Last night I had a Dream about Kim...

I had a dream like this once before...

Like previously, Kim wasn't dead (of course), but it was just a hospital mistake.. She was alive and well...

But unlike last time where she came home and was happy....

This time in the dream, she was still in the hospital, and still sick...

But she was aware, and awake, and wanting to come home....

And still alive....

I know whenever I post that I feel like I failed Kim, people get upset....

But sometimes I can't help it and that's how I feel...

I feel like I should have been able to do something....

I feel like I should have insisted she be allowed to come home....

I Love her, and I Miss her....

And I do somtimes feel like I failed her...

But I don't belive that she feels that way....

I Feel that she is mostly happy where she is....

I say mostly because she doesn't have me or Bill...

But she does have her loving parents....

And Pepper.... She really missed Pepper.... And Pepper missed her....

Just Like I miss her now... And Penny Misses her... And Bill Misses her... And Cat... Well you get the idea....

I don't know how to hold it in sometimes... I don't know what to do....

Sometimes I feel like she is being my muse....

Because my writing is not worth anything without Kim....

But somtimes, I get these ideas, or these spurts of energy and I just want to say "Hi Kim, and Thank you!"

I love her so much and I hope she knows this.

I'm sure everyone will tell me "She does"... But sometimes it's just hard to belive that for yourself...

N-E-Ways, it's past 4am in the morning and I need to go-2-bed...

Yesterday... Yesterday was a bad bad day.

I spent a good part of it crying and having a pitty party for myself.

I wrote a nice scathing blog post explaining why, but I'm not going to post it for a while.

Not untill my emotions calm down, and I can read it over and decided if I REALLY want to post it.

This past week. I had to notify 2 people of Kim's passing. People that somehow managed to get overlooked in the notifications, and/or just weren't around when she passed...

It's still not an easy thing to do.

I still have alteast one physical place where Kim used to go to get her comic books, that I haven't had the resolve and let them know yet....

I signed in and checked Kim's gmail email tonite... (That's where I had to notify one person)... Then I logged out and logged into my gmail...

As a result, Kim showed as "online" in my contacts list for a moment... And that made me happy... And then it timed out, and went to offline... And I cried... and decided to blog about it....

I woke up this morning... I was having a nice dream when I awoke, so I'm kinda upset that I awoke..

More importantly than it being a nice dream, is that it was a NICE DREAM about KIM!

Kim had come home from the hospital, and was getting settled back in at home, and everything was fine. She was happy, and not upset and while she was still a little weak and tired, she was in good spirits.

This is the first happy dream I've had about Kim since she passed away.

Back to crying now.

My back hurts... and not a little bit... a LOT... a whole LOT!

I just took 6 IBprofen.... I want to take more... But I can't.... I REALLY REALLY REALLY hurt...

Server work, and other things....

Well I've done a bit of server work recently. The most aparent happenings I guess is the fact that GabyZone is back online (the website. the IRC servers never went down)....

I had debated weather or not to save the site. Not that it took all that much work anyways (backups are great) but truth be told, I wonder if the site has gone past it's prime.

Before the first crash in Febuary, the site was being used often, and getting updated regularly... When Kim got sick, and the site crashed, and I wasn't fast to get it up, and then we had $$$ issues which took the whole server down, and the DSL line got disconnected and I had quit my job to focus on Kim, and then we had to find colo, by the time the site came back online, it had taken a substantial hit in participants....

Then the new server got hacked, and I hadn't done any recent backups, and we lost a month worth of data, and then the site got even less daily participation...

Then, crap happened again, and it took a while but I got the site up, with security fixes and while taking care of Kim, and the site came back, and there were maybee 2-3 regular visitors... and maybe 1 regular participant....

Now Kim's gone, and I'm neglecting the server for a totally different reason.... The site went down because I screwed up trying to fix a security hole (rookie mistake), and I've finally brought the site back online, and all I can hope is that people will come back....

I've been posting on other sites lately, with more and more regularity....

Trying to sound like I'm doing "better" and that everything is "ok" but it's not.

I live in filth. I haven't cleaned this house since Kim passed away.

I only have food in the house because Pickles takes me shopping and buys me food.

I've had the electricity cut off for varying ammounts of times (10, 3, 1 day/s at a time) because I was too lazy to pay the bill... Even tho I had the money...

I've lost internet access more than once for the same reasons....

A large part of me died when Kim passed away. more than half my heart just stopped.

I want to say that I'm going to get over this, and eventually everything will be fine, but sometimes I just don't see that happening...

I've promised too many people that I won't hurt myself, or atleast that I'll give them a chance to talk me out of it first, but mainly I promised Kim before she passed that I wouldn't. And no matter how I rationalize it, I can't betray that promise... That's the only reason I'm still here.

I know there are other people in this world that need me. Or atleast there are people that say they need me. But I REALLY want to be selfish and do one really stupid thing that I feel will make things better for me... But I can't, because I promised.

Some days are better than others... eg, I actually leave the bedroom for more than going to use the bathroom...

Sometimes, I even leave the house, but almost never alone...

Unless it's 3am.... Somtimes I go out for a drive alone @ 3am....

I'm not alone in the house. Penny (our puppy dog) lies with me alot... She's made herself her own bed on the bed and lies there with me and keeps me company.

Sometimes I know she can feel my pain, because sometimes she'll just move close, ly down, and be extra cuddly... Other times she gives me space, but stays close.

I know this blog post is a bit rambly, but I needed to get it off my chest...

I've been playing a lot of GuildWars lately... And chatting on the phone to Robyn and occasionally IM'ing with Cat... but I needed to make sure the truth about what is going on is out there...

I don't know what will happen from this point, I don't know how thing will turn out in the end. and for the upteenth time, the answer to "How are you doing?" is "I'm alive, ish"...

For those of you that miss me on IRC or IM or what not, I'm sorry... I'll come back when I'm ready, but I'm not ready.

Nightmares....

Well, one of the things Kim used to do....

Was keep me safe from my nightmares...

Luckily I haven't had issues with nightmares since Kim passed...

Untill tonite...

Well, one thing people really close to me know, I'm a REALLY insecure person. NEEDY most would probably say. Well one of my recurring nightmares, involved the people closest to me (Kim and Bill), up and leaving, and/or just generally kicking me out of their life.

Well, apparently, my unconcious mind has managed to figure out, that those same dreams won't scare me as much... so tonite, I woke up crying because my 2 really close friends, Cat and Robyn had abandoned me and done all kinds of bad things...

On the good side, it's not the same old dream, on the bad side.... Kim was around to help me through all the old dreams... But atleast I woke up crying, and not screaming.

I want to close this letter saying "LIFE TRUELY SUCKS" but the truth is, that it only sucks without Kim.

While Kim was in the hospital, Myself, Bill, and Cat, started working on planning a trip to Florida for when Kim was better... We promised her that we would go to Florida in November, and visit Disney, and Universal, and even watch a Shuttle launch...

This wasn't something new for Kim, she used to live there in fact...

I remember asking her HOW many shuttle launches she'd seen live (Cat wanted to know), and I can't remember her answer, I believe it was more than 5...

I've never been to Disney World (been to Disney Land many times), nor Universal, nor anywhere in the state of FL...

I was so looking forward to Kim showing me around, and telling me the stories of how this got there, and why that looks like that...

That's the way she was... She knew about most everything. There was so much in the world that interested her, and she was able to soak it up and tell you about it later, in such a way that was just amazing...

I know a bit about computers, and a bit about a few other things....

But without Kim, I'd be a clueless idiot on the side of the road.

Kim managed to teach me things that I completely ignore in school. Things that I normally would have found completely boring. But Kim was pure magic.

Anyways, the point of this post is that we are still going through with our plans. Myself, Bill, Cat, Maggie the Kitten, and 2 other friends will all be in FL this November. We plan to do everything we possibly can in a week, including watching the shuttle launch.

I feel a little bit bad, because Kim should DEFINITELY be there, but at the same time, I know it's important that we go, so that Kim knows we weren't just putting her on.

Every day, I feel like I love her more, and I miss her just as much, but as many have advised me, I find I cry less.... But I don't love her less for sure.

Well, this is DEFINITELY not one of those times where I cry less... My eyes are currently burning like mad, and I'm fighting the pain so that I can finish this post. I pray often, and just talk to myself out loud, hoping she can hear me. I miss her much, and love her deeply.

Random things, thoughts, and stuff.

A couple years back, i had a Palm Treo 600 through T-Mobile that I used as my "california" phone (it was a $9.99/month addition to my biological Mom's plan, and had a california number). At some point, while I was working for ups (and relying on it alot for mapquest mobile) the dog (Penny, our chocolate lab/linebacker mix) chewed it. Mostly it looked like she did only cosmetic damage (screen was fine) but the phone became VERY flakely and unreliable after that...

So I did the insurance replacement thing... Problem is, T-Mobile no longer did Palm Tre0's . So I got a T-Mobile SDA (or SDA Music Phone for those with european T-Mobile, or HTC Typhoon for those geeks like me). It was a nice phone. A WM5 Smartphone, no touch screen. but it was a small high resolution screen so watching videos was awesome.

When I cancelled my addition to my mom's plan, and we upgraded our NJ Cingular plan, I moved to a ATT 8125, or HTC Wizard... When I did that, I unlocked the SDA, and gave it to Kim to use instead of her Nokia 6800 I think it was...

Now, since that 8125, I've had a 8525 (2 in fact) (8125 screen broke. I gave it to a friend whom fixed it and uses it now.... The first 8525 broke [power button issues] and got a warranty replacement) and I now have an AT&T Tilt or HTC TyTn II (US/ATT edition without the 2nd camera :( )

The point of all this is... hat since Kim passed, I have been using the SDA phone for myself more often than my really neat phone with GPS and Full Keyboard and whatnot...

I just upgraded the SDA to WM6.1 in fact, and even ported Kim's custom theme over...

I keep customizing the phone for me but making sre that it's still KIM's phone...

Is that weird?

Surprisingly I've made it through this whole post, thinking of Kim fondly and haven't yet shed a single tear... But now that I said that my body is going to try and make me a liar...

Been playing GuildWars with Robyn and Ryan we are the FaerieManor Guild...

It helps to do stuff that Kim and I would have done.

Like play GuildWars.. Or go see movies..

Bill is coping better than me, but I can tell it still hurts for him too.

We don't go more than 2 days without seeing each other... And I'm perfectly happy like that :)

We're running out of movies to go see tho :P

Just wanted to give an update..

I'm actually thinking about writing... Trying to figure out how to continue both MY stories and Kim's stories... She was definately the more creative one...

Anyways... -HUGGLES- I haven't actually slept yet, altho I went to bed about 7hrs ago..

And now I have leaky eyes again.

Sorry for the lack of updates to this blog... But it's hard to think about a lot of things.

I am alive. I am "living" in that I leave the house and do things (tho not as often as I probably should).

Penny (the puppy) is doing okies. She's been doing good on the "chewing herself" front and most the hair is growing back.

I refuse to "MOVE ON" as some people will tell me I need to do, but I will LIVE my life as best I can.

I still cry a lot. But sometimes I can go almost a whole day without crying. But never without remembering.

I love her so much, and it's very very hard to deal with her being gone.

I have a picture of her and me on the desktop of this machine. All 3 monitors. It was taken last year, in Indianapolis, @ the river-walk at night. It was a fun night, with friends and Kim was definitely at her best. And that's how I want to remember her.

Well, I haven't been to sleep yet... it's 9:08am local time right now. I'll probably fall asleep in a couple hours... For a couple hours...

I have Internet again, so those of you I promised emails to will be getting them soon.

Kimberly Elizabeth Fox, 52 of Vineland, New Jersey, formerly of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away June 11, 2008 at 3:41 pm in University of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00, Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Blaney officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Michigan City, IN. Visitation will be from 12:00pm Thursday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel.

She was born August 28, 1955 in Michigan City, Indiana to the late William S. Maddocks and the late Anna Marie Jellison.

Surviving are her friends, William "Bill" Pomerantz and Robert (Piper) Plummer, both of Vineland, New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Kimberly graduated Marquette University with an MBA, and worked as a computer programmer for 25 years, before continuing on to operate a chain of comic book stores, and more recently serving as CEO of PP&F NetWorks, LLC. She was a member of many online community organizations.

Is it wrong of me, to want Kim to keep fighting?

Is it wrong of me to want her to keep enduring?

Last couple days, she's been asking for Pain meds alot. And the Docs helping her, and keeping her going..

But I can't but wonder, is she doing this because it's what she really wants, or is it because of US.

I want her around. I never want to have to let her go. I love her truly.

We had a talk with a doc from the hospital's Ethics Comity today...

He felt, he was ethically obligated to tell us, that further aggressive treatment was "futile" and that the medical staff recommends making her 'comfortable'.

He said that that wasn't a "general concession" but instead it was a unanimous concession of the medical staff.

He also said, that he recommends a second opinion, if for nothing else, than Bill's and My piece of mind.

He also said, that the concession was that Bill and I were appropriately speaking for Kim's wishes when she wasn't lucid, and that this was confirmed by her in the times when she is lucid.

By my number one question is this:

WHY KIM?

I know people ask that often. Why me, Why now, Why, why, why....

My impulse is to say, that Kim's illness is proof that there is no God.

But I can't honestly belive that, no matter how angry and upset I am.

Truth be told, I feel that Kim and my finding of each other, and our time together is proof that he/she exists.

I have done many things in my life that I am less than proud of.

And truth be told, I have done many things in my life, that I HAVE been proud of, but probably shouldn't be.

But instead of living by myself in a self imposed hell, I've had GREAT friends, friends so supportive that I care for them more than my family, just poured onto me.

How could this happen if there wasn't someone or something looking out for me?

But at the same point, I still need to know. WHY KIM? WHY NOW? Why Why Why!

Migraine

So I faced the blistering sun in an air condition-less SUV again to come visit Kim...

As I sit here, I'm currently experiencing a Migraine that is really hitting me hard.

It's mostly just PAIN at this point, no real vision issues or nausea...

But the pain is immense.

I haven't told anyone yet, nor done anything to get rid of it, because I feel that I shouldn't complain about something so little when Kim is so ill.

I'm quite certain I'm going to get yelled at for that last bit as soon as a certain brit reads this.

Kim's back on the BiPaP, and off dialysis. Her bloodpreassure took a deep dive today.

She's still mentally with it, for the time, but that will probably change depending on how long she's off Dialysis.

She's still fighting, and we're still fighting....

Baby Steps

Just a small update today...

Kim is off the BiPaP machine at the moment.

They managed t get the arterial line in place so that they can more acurately measure her blood preassure and do more acid tests more freaquently...

So right now they only have to use the BiPap for treatment doses instead of round the clock.

I wll let you know more when I know more....

As I sit here, waiting for word, from pickles for me to come get him...

I thought i'd update people whith what I knoe from last night.

To kep Kim's blood preassure up high enough to weather the 24/7 dialysis, the have to pump her full of dopamine, milrinone, argatroban, and other medcines...

The problem is they are giving her MORE fluids than they are able to ake off.

The reason being, everytime the up the therapy on the dialysis to remove more fluids, her preassure drops, which means higher dose of dopamine....

On the good side of things....

Kim's back.

She's not happy at the state of things but she's not mad @ me or Pickles

She's awake, fully cognative, and even trying to crack a joke here and there... which is hard over the sound of the BiPaP mask thingy...

Course of Treatment Pt 2.

We had our meeting.

I didn't hear anything I wanted to hear.

And in fact we heard a lot that we DIDN'T want to hear.

We need to get Kim's blood pressure up before we can do ANYTHING else.

We can't do transplant will we biopsy the kidneys and the lungs...

We can't biopsy the kidneys or lungs until she's OFF 24/7 Dialysis and blood pressure is up

We can't get her off 24/7 Dialysis until her blood pressure is up

And they just don't know WHY her heart isn't working better...

I promised Kim, months back, that she would come home.

I want her to come home! I don't know what I can do without here.

I don't know HOW to live without her.

I don't know what else to do!

So please PRAY

Sorry about the lack of blog updates, but i've been spending time in the chatroms again and relaying information through there..

Kim's stll n and out mentally and has been really tred a lot....

She's back on the 24/7 Dalysis because when they tried the every other day kind her blood preassure and temp were too low and they weren't actually able to remove any fluid...

As a side affect of the new round of dialysis they thnk they know why the mental confusion.

They send some blood work to the lab and found the acid levels in her blood are too high.

So they are going to put her on a mask to boost the oxygen levels in her lungs and hopefully reduce the acid levels.

Well the reason I know of this development at 1:15am my tme is that inorder to make sure the mask is helping (the next step being intibation) they need to put in an arterial catheter in her wrist, or just do needle pricks every 15mins or so.

The arterial catheter has a lot of positive sides to it, lke being able to measure diferent preassures, but also has one bad side. They need to immobilze her arm so that she can't pull it out accdentally.

I've asked them to put the arteral catheter n her left arm as that's the arm where her pic line is, but just remembered she's left handed..

She's ggonna be mad at me again when she wakes up :(

oh well... I've done a decent bit of writng last couple days.... mybee it'll be redy to post in couple weeks.

Clearing up a few things...

Sorry, it's come to my attention that I have been a bit vague on some details....

Mainly because I'd been passing certain bits of info to people and forgetting to blog them...

Kim had the cardioaversion on Monday, or was that Tuesday... Sorry, it's running a bit together now... The Cardioaversion was a success and she's in a normal Sinus Rhythm still! YAY!

Her Kidney Function is still way down, but her blood pressure is up enough that she's no longer on the 24/7 Dialysis... But that means that a bit of the "fog" or "confusion" is back...

Those are the times it's worst... At least for me, and I suspect the same for her...

For her, she doesn't know what's going on and it's all strange and weird...

For me, I have to be "forceive" and try and make her eat, or convince her that she needs to stay in the hospital no matter how desperately she, and I, want her to come home...

I think I could deal with all the medical issues with ease, if it wasn't for her bits of mental confusion... THAT is what really makes this all so tough...

Bill and I made the mule run today... I picked up 2 CD's of information and various reports from Deborah... Everyone there, and here at UPenn are definitely top notch.

I think that's it for now... I've been trying to do a bit of writing today, but instead have done a lot of helping Kim or helping Kim's nurses, as they seem to be a but short staffed, or just really busy..

Just a little middle of the night update from me....

As it stands now, Kim is still in a standard sinus rhythm. Her blood preassure is good for her but a little low from 'normal' and her heart rate is good.

She was off the Dialysis today for a couple hours.... They needed to prep her for and then take her to the cath lab for tests...

Shortly before she went back on, she started to really fade mentally..

That's an extremely scary thing to watch....

Either tomorrow or Friday I get to play MULE and pickup the cd's of Kim's CT scans and Ultrasounds and take them to UPenn... I'm more than happy to do it even if it means about 130-150 miles of driving round trip when all is said and done... It's all for Kim after all...

I talked to one of our favorite people @ Deborah today. One of the 3 primary people we know are always loking out for Kim's best interests. she says that had the Bi-V (Bi-Ventricular) ICD been, well, I guess "installed" i(best word I could come up with) that yes Kim wouldn't have had the optimizer turned on because it would have taken over for the Optimizer.

She said that she would have been just as confident if Kim had gotten the Bi-V ICD as she is with the Optimizer, and also added "Study or no study, remember that you always have my number"...

I really do love that place....

And so far, everyone @ UPenn is just as great and just as awesome!

I've been on the phone so much today it's not funny!

I've been organizing records transfers from Deborah to UPenn... Getting administrators to fast-track things, getting doctors to request the right items.... All the ppl @ Deborah and UPenn are absolutely GREAT!

In a couple hours, Kim goes for a cardiac catheterization so that they can see how well her heart is pumping...

Kim's hear is in a normal sinus rhythm now.... Her heart rate is 84, her Blood pressure is 97/60... Things are definitely starting to look up!:)

I've talked briefly to Kim's doc about the Optimizer and he's gonna check with the attending to see if they want to have Deborah to turn the Optimizer back on.

Just an FYI....

Kim's not done Dialysis today because her blood pressure is too low...

They are going to be putting her on a continuous dialysis that is a lot more gentle on the system as it's a slower process....

Her heart rate is slower (good thing) and blood pressure is lower (bad thing) due to the fact that they moved her from DOBUTamine to Milrinone in hopes of lowering the heart rate... which it did...

They are hoping to see an improvement in the blood pressure over the next several hours as that's what the milrinone and dobutamine were all about...

More from me later... At least UPenn has WiFi... I'll try and work on the sites a bit....

Cardioversion and Dialysis and Doctors, Oh My!

Well lass than 1 hour ago, I gave 'phone consent' for Kim to have a procedure called Cardioaversion.

No, Kim's not 'gone' again mentally, but she was actively having Dialysis done, and didn't feel right getting consent from her while that was happening.

The cardioaversion is something we've been waiting on/expecting for a while and I know that i've bloged about it more than enough recently so I won't bore u with details of that again...

But I can finally tell you more about the TEE...

For the TEE what they are going to do is send a ultrasound probe down the feeding tube which is still in (because she has a sore throat causing her problems eating solid food). Then since the end of the feed tube lies right next to the heart they can get a clear view t look to se if there are any bloodclots that might be hiding in the far corners...

That's what we know for now. The bad heart rythm could come back after the cardioaversion, but we ned to do something...

And I have to say, the future always looks brighter when you have an aggressive plan of action!

UPenn Cardiac Care Unit

Sorry about not updating the blog after the transfer happened yesterday, but it was a very long, very tiring day....

The doctors, nurses and misc staff on duty @ UPenn's Cardiac Care unit seem just as top notch and attentive as those @ Deborah.

They took a complete hostory, including a lot of details that I was able to relay, gave use some new info and some new theories and this was just the weekend staff!

The main vibe I got is that a) First Task is evaluation for transplant list, which requires them to take a deep look @ the mass on the kidneys. If thats's cancerous, transplant is out (not sure if out forever or out til removed). b) They think they can medicinally fix her heartrate still. They are going to try a few things Deborah hadn't.

Well, time to sign off, I am running a bit lagte and need to head to UPenn for my daily dose of kim...

Allllll Aboaaaaaaaard! Next Stop, U.Penn!

As I sit here, we are curently waiting on medical transport to arrive.

Kim's being transferred to UPen's CHF/Cardiac Transplant clinic...

Kim's doctors here @ deborah have been in contact with their counterparts over @ UPenn and said that sending her there is worth a shot.

UPenn has close to the same reputation of excelence as Deborah but is capeable of doing a lot more for her.

Firstly, is that they will evaluate her and get her put on a transplant list NOW, before it becomes and absolute necessity. This will make it easier for her to recive a transplant if a viable organ becomes available...

Also, UPen will be able to look at, and take steps towards the mass on her Kidney... Deborah is not capeable of more than saying 'Yup, there is a mass on her Kidney' as that's not what they are here for.

Deborah is a Cardio Pulminary rehab/research hospital mainly and fear they are getting close to the end of their abilities as far as Kim's treatment is concerned...

N-E-Ways, I'll update more when the transport happens, but it's currently expcted to happen about 5:45pm EDT, but who knows.

Promised updates...

Kim currently has 2 devices in her chest. I've talked about them before on this blog... 1 is a device alled an "optimizer" which reads impulse sequences from the heart and does something to produce calcium which makes the heart beat/contract with more force.

That device is from a company called 'impule dynamics' which I belive has been since bought out by "boston scientific" but I could be wrong on that front. It is/was a research device and Kim was part of a study on it's effectiveness...

The other is an ICD or 'defibulator' from gudant whom may or maynot Also been bout out by Boston scientific...

The docs are currently planing on replacing the ICD with what I belive he called a BI-V.ICD (By Vee Eye Sea Dee) which will mechanically slow Kim's heart rate by cutting out half the impulses the heart gets. So it won't beat quite as fast. This is important because Kim's heartrate is really fast right now. It's actually @ 119

When I asked how this new icd would affect the Optimizer I was told "She's no longer a part of that study".

Now the optimizer has been turned off for about a month now while we waited for the Cardioversion but the doc said last night that they most likely won't ever be able to do the cardioaversion....

Well that's what I know...

Kim's Back! (ishk)

Yup! She's back! Mostly, atleast mentally that is.

She's a bit fuzzy still, and has very little energy, but she's eating. Or atleast trying.

She drank her lunch nutrition shake, and tried to eat some solid food, but she can't swallow the solid food because of the feeding tube. They are going to continue the tube feeding still today and tomorrow because of the severe lack of nutrition for the last week, but it will probably come out on monday!

She's still upset at me, but is kinda understanding the need for the tube. She's also starting to ask questions about various things and trying to string the path from point A to point Z together in her head.

Kim is a very bright and intelligent person with a genius level IQ and a great memory for facts and occurences, and seing her not at her full mental state is always scary.

N-e-ways, it's nice to have good news for once, and I will post that info about the following week's plan of action L8r.

As I sit here waiting for visiting hours to starft for the day, I can't but think "She's going to be mad at me again"...

Kim is just a couple hundred deet away, and I think of myself. While she has dialysis tubes sticking out of her chest. 4IV's, a feeding tube up her nose. And I think how it affects me?

I don't know sometimes. So far 5 people have told me i'm 'full of shit' or similar as to the "i've failed' post, but I can't help but think they are all wrong.

It's about time to head in now, time to "face the music". I have updates for what will happen this coming week, but they will have to wait.

I had to experience the number one thing I would never wish upon my worste enemy... I had to be 'The Adult'....

Kim's not been eating, as mentioned in various posts, and since I can't seem to get her to eat, I gave consent for the nurse to shive a feedng tube up Kim's nose.

She's currently mad @ me. She didn't tell me to leave, but she's not talking with me either...

Some will prolly say, "That's proof you have'nt failed, you 'Did The right Thing'" But I say I failed because I let it go this far...

N-E-Ways as I sai, I wuld never wish this fate on anyone, having to be an honest to goodness adult that is...

Kim should be on her way ack from Surgery. They had to remove the dialysis stint from her legg and put a new more permenant one on her neck.

Other things planed for today are the permenant IV in her arm that doesn't have to be changed every 3 days, another 1.5L or fluids to be removed by dialysis, and the possibility of the Cardioaversion and / or TEE procedure.

There is good news too, Kim was slightly more with it this am, and took all her pills.

I'm sitting here now... In the MICU waiting room @ Deborah Heart and Lung Center.

I showed up early as I promised Kim, but the MICU receptionist said they weren't ready for me yet.

I belive today is a Dialysis day, so I hope they aren't readying her for dialysis as i'm going to need a whole lot of time to coax her into eating and taking her pills.

It's possible they are readying her for surgery. I know they are going to put a per.... time to go in.. they just came for me... more later...

Small things....

Just a small update, as I*s a little afcter midnight and I have to be up and about around 5:30ish am...

I managed to get Kim to eat a little today. Very little, but the nurses were happy ans so was I.

On the down side, she refused her medicine in the morning (anything in pill form atleas. The nurse said she never refused any of the IV bits).

The nurse asked if we could come in the morning to be with Kim and help to get her to eat and take her pills and I said yes, and Kim promised me that she would take her pills and eat if I was with her early in the morning. So tomorrow, or I gues today actually as it's friday now, I get to be @ deborah really really early in the AM. (so early in fact that I have special permission to be there before visiting hours).

Hopefully I won't fail my Kim this time.

U know...

People keep asking me how I'm doing....

And I always say 'fine' or 'alive' or something similar...

But the truth is, I haven't been alive since Kim got sick.

I exist, but that's it.

I can't live without Kim. I can't survive without knowing it's going to be ok... And I just don't know that it will..

Someone just pointed out to me, that my feelings for Kim parralel 'Pepper' from Kim's seried EXPO Summer. But Pepper never failed Kim of her own will. Pepper was kept from protecting Kim...

I've been with Kim through it all, and somehow I failed. I was the person in charge of keeping her safe. I managed her diet. I kept track of her medications and I failed somewhere.

I know people are going to say it's not my fault. I would say the same to someone else in the same position. But I FAILED!

As I sit here now, I'm trying to get Kim to eat something. I'm not sure how to get it done. I've managed 3 bites of apple suace and 3 sips of the choco health shake. Nothing solid.

I don't know what to do, or how to fix it. Above all, I fear it can't be fixed.

More on Dialysis.....

Well, we just got to spend about 5 mins visiting with Kim.... She's currently going through Dialysis and will be for another 3 hours.... According to the dialysis nurse it's scheduled currently at 4 hours every other day... But according to the attending Nephrologist they may bump that up to 24/7 dialysis at least for the short term. The main issue besides the kidney damage/failure is her bloodpreasure. They are currently trying not only to remove the waste from the blood, but also a bit of fluids to help with the bloodpreassure issue.... I'm scared. I'm very scared....

The nephrologist is helpful that things COULD improve. She says she's seen it happen. I just want my Kim back.

The scariest part of that is the fact that we now have Power of attorney over Kim's medical care... the doctors are followin the advanced care directive now... Before it was a 'just in case'.. Now it's real...

More Kim...

Here's the latest....

Kim will be moved sometime between today and Friday to a Rehab facility somewhere closer to home. She will return to Deborah 'in a fes weeks' to have the cardioaversion done, after she's had min 4 weks of 'blood thining therapy'.

Not sure I said this before but her fluids were so bad that the swelling had been compresing the liver and causing it to not make clotting factor which artificially put her clotting numbers to where they wanted it on therapy. Now that the fluid is mostly gone they have to start a new regimin of blood thinners and keep track of those numbers...

If I get the chance I will be joining friends @ camp on Saturday evening and bringing them home on suday... if not i'll just pick them up sunday...

Am I selfish for wanting to do the camp thing on Sat night instead of being close to Kim?

Airport and Kim....

Well as of this morning the Cardioversion is scheduled for tomorrow. This comes after one of Kim's cardiologists telling us that it was to son and they would be worried about her throwing a clot if they did it, just last night... That's a bit scary...

Those of you that have Kim's cellphone # are more than welcome to call her, but please don't pass it to ohers without permission, and don't expect a conversation longer than 2 mins. She wants to talk but her brething is still laboured and talking on the phone is tiring to her.

Right now, instead of being with Kim, I'm wating at the airport to pick up a frind whose flight is currently estimated 3hrs L8... And no, it's not Cat :) .

I hope to be able to give more info soon, but going into large detail using my phoneis somewhat more work on this tiny kbd than you'd think.

I will elaborate more when home probably..

Another kim update for the day....

Well the Cardioaversion or TEE (heard it caled both but I guess they could be different) will not happen today. They are going to do a chest x-ray to lok at the fluids on the lungs :)

They are tenatively scheduleing for tomorrow but it's all still up in the air.

The are afraid her oxygen absorbtion is too low for the TEE (which I just found out is when they use a probe through the stomache to check out the heart to check for blockage). They are currently afraid there is a new blockage.. Joy...

The MICU attendings have come by and said she's too healthy to move to MICU which is good, but we never knew they were looking into that... Aparently they might do a drip to remove more fluid. They just lowered her Bumex (diuretic) drip to 1.6mL/hr it was 3.2mL/hr...

They are doing 'blood gas' right now... will post more when I know more.

Small update for thosethat ant to know... Kim lost 10lbs of fluid over the weekend thanks to a heavy diet of diuretics and low fluid consumption...

As a direct result the 'Cardioaversion' procedure has been moved up to today and should happen shortly.....

Also, a small sever update. We were DDoS'd we think (no definitive proof yet) possibly due to my efforts at keeping miscreants and nerdowells off the server....

Well, I'm not sure what I am doing other than playing with yet anoter mobile bloger program. no promises of updates but i'll try.

Kim's fluids and therefore weight have gone down, but the doctors are still talking dialysis... That scares me...

If you dnt know the latest, Kim was supposed to be released from Genisis (progressive rehab), but went to Deborah for a checkup and was re-admitted here...

Deborah doctors in general don't seem to be happy with kim's attending physician when she was in Genisis but as a facility and staff, Genisis (in Millville, NJ) is top notch. Just don't use the same doctor Kim did...

I will try and post any udates here first... oh and GAbyZone will be back...

UPS SUXS!

I now have a boycut.... I had to cut my hair, before entering the stupid Driver Training program, and I didn't want to turn it down, as we are kinda short money (household wise, the business is fine) and turning down work at UPS is like saying "PLEASE FIRE ME!"

N-E-Ways, So as I said, I now have a boycut, and then, I almost failed out of the damn class on Friday, as they have us driving a weird 5 speed disel in the following configuration R-1-2-3-4-5 (picture to come later) instead of a standard 1-2-3-4-5-R which is REALLY stupid when you consider that our center only has 4spd Regular gas package cars, in a 1-2-3-4-R configuration... So why do I need to learn this 5 speed monstrosity, when all the NEW vehicles are gonna be Automatic transmission?

Well, I did my presentation on basic data/network security.... I used BJ's, Choice Point, Lexis Nexis, and DSW Shoe Warehouse as examples.... I talked about "social engineering" to get data, and how low-cost backups are nowadays.... I also sold them on the idea of VoIP.... So I've spent the last couple days, trying to find the best private lable VoIP reseller plan that I can, since we can't afford to put in our own VoIP infrastructure.... We have quite a few nice possibilities..... And I had to PROMISE that I would come back in a couple months, to update them on our (PP&F's) progress in the VoIP market....

Now that's over..... Onto other subjects....

Past Projects.... I've spent the last couple days, going through, and looking at an old design project, and wondering WHY the customer went with another company... Whilst I want to show off my design work, as we are still friendly with the company, I don't want to disparage their name... But I will say, the reason we were told, is that their main vendor, told them, that if they moved their site from us, to x company, then the vendor, would put a link to the customer's website on vendors webpage... and they did...

That SUX...

I can't belive this...

On monday, I was told by one of my business partners, that I was to be doing a presentation for the south jersey business assocation... On WEDNESDAY (AKA TOMORROW)....

OK, I decided to to it, as a favor, since he's the current president, and his speaker fell through... Plus, PP&F could ALWAYS use good advertising...

So I decided to make a dialup cellphone link to the net, and do a Q&A, with help from the internet...

KEWL HUH!.... Then I decided, I should do some sort of presentation... Well... I gathered some info, and slides from the net, and put together an 87 slide powerpoint presentation using OpenOffice Impress (Like PowerPoint, but FREE)....

Well, aparently my presentation about virus updates, spam, and cookies v spyware, was too long...

So I killed it to just the 5 basic steps of keeping ur puter tip top (virus updates, windows/mac update, scandisk, defrag, and backup).... Now I have it down to about 57 slides...

Still too long I'm told....

So I guess I could do just the Spam, and Cookies v. Spyware, or 10 tips for diagnosing puter problems.... but the most substantive part of the presentation is the damn 5 basics.... Which I told, would be good for a 1 on 1 situation, but not for a group setting...

N-E-Ways, I'm SEVERYLY fucking depressed at the moment... In fact I'm writing this, in the relative darkness of the bathroom (no lights in here yet, normally use a flashlight to get around)... Just so that Kim doesn't ask what I'm doinging, and I don't have to tell her that I'm updating my blog, altho someone will eventually tell her, someone always does....

I'm SOOOOOOOO tired today... I just can't handle it....

I went into the office today to do a little bit of work for Kim, and then I just faded, and almost fell asleep at her desk.... It sounds semi innocent, and not important, but that doesn't usually happen to me. Not that fast, not in that way.

N-E-Ways, onto other things... We had what seems to be most of a circuit go bad Friday.... Wasn't till sat I think it was, when we got back online... I've done small bits of rerouting around the bad stuff, but I still need to find out what went wrong and where, as the stuff that seems to be bad, is really old paper wrapped wiring, which kind of scares me, and Kim...

Guess that's it... I know the title of this is Wasted, Wiring, Weeping, but I just wanted a title that sounded good... There's been no real weeping today, cept a lil bit, after the bad dreams....

Today, a couple of co-workers and I, talked about creating an anti-UPS site... Where we could go, and bitch about our supervisors, our jobs, and all kinds of shit.

It's a good Idea, I think I might sponsor the space for it... No biggie....

Other than that, work just sux... Nothing more than usual.... I really don't like getting up at 4am to goto work, but then again, I'd be just as pissy if I had to wake up at 8am to goto work...

But, I promised Bill and Kim that I would hold normal office hours, if PPF got an office, a REAL office, and I found out today, that he was thinking that putting me in the basement of what is going to be his new office, would be ok... and that's not true... When I say I want a REAL office, I want a place, where I can bring in customers, a place where I can meet with clients, I want PPF to have a REAL office..

N-E-Ways, I need to sit down, and put my ideas on paper, so that we can have a business meeting, plus it's nap nap time...

Well, got my but up at 4:00am this morning (actually more lke 4:27 after liberally using the snooze button) got to work, and asked "Do you want to go home?" turns out, everyone actually showed up for work today... Talk about strange... First time so far this year.....

N-E-Ways, I did, and I had a nice long sleep... It was nice being able to wake up at 9am and feeling rested, instead of coming home from work, taking a nap, sleeping till noon, and still feeling like I had been up for days... I'm REALLY gonna need to go see that damn shrink about more sleeping pills soon....

No nightmares last night, thank god... Altho I got REALLY down today, had to do with a discussion about business stuff.... I really think I am reverting back to my always depressive state... But that's a topic for another time...

Well, it's been a long time, since I updated this thing.... It's partially, my fualt, for not updting it, because, well, like every other journal I have, I get all enthused about it in the beginning, then just slack of.... And it's also partially my fault, for forgeting the user name and password that I used, so I wasn't able to update it when I wanted to... Kim's had plenty of problems since the last time I updated this.... But I'm not going to replay that all there... If you want more info, read her site @ http://www.kimem.net

On to me, beause, well, that's what this whole page is about... ME... Right? I mean this is the one place, I can be selfish and antisocial, and be allowed to do it... I mean it is MY page, and this is my place to rant, cry, get pissy, and anything elese I want....

So lets see... If I remember, last I left off, I was just starting prozac... Well now I'm on Prozac, Trileptal, and Ambien.... And I have to go see a shrink every once in a while... Altho I do everything I can, to NOT go to the shrink... I don't know why, but going to see him scares me, I think it has something to with the fact that I lie to him, alot....

He asks me if I have been having thughts about sewercide, and I say "no".... But the truth would be, "YES, OFTEN, ALL THE TIME, SEMI SEVERLY".... But why would I want to go and tell the truth about that.... I really don't want to be locked away.... I mean, if I hurt myself, it's my own problem... No one elses, cept maybee Kim and Bill, but we're not going to go there... I mean, I haven't done anything, and that's what really counts...

Also, I've never told him about being TG, so all he sees is the male me... Which is fine, since he's treating the Manic/Depressive stuff... altho, with me not going to see him, I'm not really even letting him do that...

I try to go see him, every 4 months or so, if I can force myself to.

He's a nice enough guy, and I had no problem in the beginning, but then, I think it's the lying that got to me...

Oh well... Still working at UPS, I'm loading trucks now (whoopie)... but atleast I got a $1/hr raise... which is better than nothing...

Well, Kim's FINALLY out of the hospital again... She came home this time the day before thanksgiving and is doing MUCH better thanshe was the first time she came home.

We had thanksgiving Dinner/Lunch over at DENNY's, and then went to see "Love Actually" at a local Regal Cinema.. Sounds exciting huh????

N-E-Ways, lots of things have happened to me lately, and I have made quite a few decisions reguarding my life.....

First off, I've decided to transition, or atleast I've decided to do what I need to do to begin to transition.... There is a big difference there...

N-E-Ways..... I'm currently taking Spironolactone (1x 100mg Tablet 2 times/day), Medroxyprogesterone (1x 10mg Tablet 1 time/day) and Estradiol (2x 2mg Tablets 2 times/day), along with my normal FLUOXETINE HCL [PROZAC] (1x 20MG Capsule 1 time/day)....

Now, of these prescriptions, only the PROZAC is currently prescribed to me, so I'm a little worried about interractions and side effects, but it's time for me to do something. I'd like to start taking Depo-Provera in Pre-Filled syringes, and the Same with the Estradiol, but I'm not sure how to approach my General Practitioner (whom is an osteopath BTW) about the subject, and my prescription benefit's fomulary won't cover the Depo-Estradiol or any other form of injectable estradiol as far as I can tell, so I'll either be taking the pill, or preferrably the patch.

That is of course, if I ever find a way around approaching the doc... Which theorhetorically(*) is possible... But not nessecarily gonna happen soon.

Well, Kim's in the Hospital.... Congestive heart failure... After having a MAJOR heart attack 2 weeks ago... This time the Dr.s may get their act together and actually NOT send her home till she's ready.

I AM Bi-Polar (manic-depressive)... I'm on Prozac... Have been since October... Was on 10mg tablet once a day, am now on 20mg capsule once a day... It does seem to be working atlest a little, with the depression stuff, but not nearly as much as I want it too...

For those few of you that know about this, and those fewer that are even interested, here's a status update of the server.

We went up 2 NY to administer the server ourselves... It's approx a 3 hour drive.....

Get there, install the latest SOPHOS binary along with the latest set of IDE's for said binary, and it starts running...

Several mins later it starts reporting tojans and delting files... in stuff like /usr/bin/tar, cat, more, etc....

The thing is, it was deleting a LOT of stuff that I KNEW the os needed... (BTW, it even had infected the running copy of SOPHOS, or so it thought, so it deleted itself)...

N-E-Ways.... A reboot later, and the damn thing won't boot.... Can't mount the drives... shut dunt work.....

So I grab the RedHat 7.3 cd, boot to recsuce disc mode, run, e2fsck on the partitions, reboot, start an upgrade, and find out that I'm like 2 MB short space on the / partition, so I goto a diff terminal desktop and del like 15mb of stuff in the root that I no longer needed.....

Start the upgrade over, and find I'm short about 6mb on the /var partition..... So I del some files......]

Start the install over.... Install fails when trying to install the NetTools rpm.....

So I pull the disc out and clean it......

STart install over, same error....

So I took out the burned copy I brought as backup.......

"No RedHat install media found int the drive"

So I clean that cd.... Still nothing......

So I plug back in the ethernet leads... Try an FTP install...

Nothing....

So now Andromeda-I is sitting here at home where I am having about the same luck as b4... Even wtih new burn cd's.... So I'm trying fresh installs on new drives.....

Results so far:

My new 160GB primary drive out of DIGITAL - partitioned, installed, won't boot.

One of my 80GB drives out of DIGITAL's IDE Raid array - Initialized, then died.... Fdisked, then died... Formatted, then died.... Started installing, then died and rebooted.....

The other 80GB drive out of DIGITAL's IDE Raid array - Not Recognized, not even in bios.

My 4GB backup/travel drive - System just locked up... Have no-idea if it has anything to do with the drive, but that's where things stand at this moment.

N-E-Ways, doesn't look like any real sleep for me tonite... Altho I might grab a short nap later on....

STUPID Linux WORMS.....

Andromeda-I (The Primary MAIL server, IRC Server, and HOST for sites such as TGCOMICS.COM and RELUCTANTPRESS.COM) got compromised today.... Aparently just was I was trying to patch it.

That's what I get for trying to sleep in the A.M....

If I just stayed up 24x7 and didn't sleep, I wouldn't have these kinds of problems.... I'd know about everything as it happened....

Oh well... My 4 day weekend becomes 4 days of sitting around and watching the damn servers...

STUPID SCRIPT KIDDIES....

Atleast back in the day.... Hackers had ethics.... Now all these script kiddies are flooding the net trying to wreak havoc and put good/reputible businesses out of business.... THIS SUX!

Sometimes I REALLY wish I had never gotten into this damn busines....

IT would have definately save me a whole lot of heart-ache.....

I just finished washing my hair.... I plan on Dyeing it tomorrow while Kim's in AC...

I'm using L'OREAL Feria, color R75 in the POWER REDS Series.... The color I'm going to use is labled "FLAMING RED/Bright Copper Red".....

With any luck, this will turn out better than the last couple times I tried.... It seemed like they only partially took, and I have dark hair so they didn't turn out well... I'm hopinh to lighten a bit as well as go read... I think/hope it will go well... When I FIRST died my hair (and I wish I could remember the brand/color) it was only semi-permenant, and worked GREAT, and turned out LOVELY.... But still darker than I wanted....

My om like it tho, all tho she saw it after it was mostly gone...

N-E-Ways... No real complaining today... Got a 4 day weekend to look forward to... I may post again later tonite.

Life sux and then you die.....

Sometimes I just wish that I could SLEEP!!!!!!

Got home from work, decided to run out to the mall to pick up headset for my new cellphone (Nokia 6340i). Didn't get home till about 1pm, after runnin around trying to find one that worked more than half assed, and trying to work on something @ the office...

Try to sleep... 2pm, phone rings.... I'ts Pickles... Followed by Kim.....

Get up and fix a prob for a customer/fried... Get back to sleep about 2:30ish....

3:45.... Phone rings....... Telemarketer....

get back to sleep about 15 mins later.....

4:45 Phone rings... Telemarketer.... I decided to check e-mail....

Friend that I haven't talked to in a long while nails me on AIM.....

Get back to sleep about 35 mins later.....

And I was basically up for the night about 6:00pm... NOT hat I wanted... Hopefully I'll get back 2 sleep b4 midnight...
